The first phase of short-term specialized training courses for farmers and specialists working in the livestock sector has officially begun in Jizzakh Region within the framework of the “Financing sustainable livestock development” project supported by the French Development Agency (AFD). This initiative represents an important step toward modernizing Uzbekistan’s livestock industry and ensuring its sustainable development.
Training program and strategic cooperation
The three-day training courses, launched on May 16 in the city of Jizzakh, were organized in close cooperation with the Veterinary and livestock development committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The program is aimed at improving the modern knowledge and practical skills of livestock farm managers, specialists, and practitioners. Its primary objective is to introduce advanced technologies and management methods to increase productivity, improve quality, and enhance the profitability of livestock farms.
According to project representatives, these courses will create an important foundation for the future development of the livestock sector, strengthen the capacity of local farmers, and introduce innovations into the industry.
Key areas covered and practical training
The training sessions are being conducted by Professors U. Soatov and Sh. Abdurasulov, as well as senior researchers and Doctors of Science B. Allashov, J. Isaev, and A. Muminov. Alongside theoretical instruction, participants are receiving in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the following key areas:
• Proper feeding and care of livestock.
• Organization of veterinary services, disease prevention, diagnostics, and milking hygiene.
• First aid skills for livestock in emergency situations.
• Effective organization of feed resources and implementation of proper management systems in livestock farms.
During the first days of the program, current challenges in the livestock sector were discussed interactively. Theoretical sessions will continue until May 18. On May 19, the most important part of the program — practical field training — will take place at a livestock farm, where modern methods of animal care, disease diagnosis, treatment, and efficient farm management will be demonstrated in real working conditions.
One of the course participants shared their impressions, saying:
“These training courses are teaching us new approaches to solving problems in livestock farming. In particular, the knowledge we gained about disease prevention has been extremely useful, and we are eager to apply it in practice.”
Project significance and expected outcomes
Through this and similar projects, the French Development Agency (AFD) continues to contribute significantly to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s livestock sector, the improvement of rural living standards, and the strengthening of the country’s food security.
The training courses launched in Jizzakh Region are expected to serve as a solid foundation for the future development of the livestock industry.
